Police Calls on Citizens
The Police of Armenia calls on citizens to refrain from potential provocations and illegal actions during mass protests. This information is provided by the press service of the police.
“We urge everyone to abstain from any actions aimed at violating public order, as well as from anti-social and illegal acts,” the statement reads.
It is emphasized that the police will fully carry out and continue its functions aimed at ensuring public order.
Recall that on September 14, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in parliament that the Armenian side wants to sign a document, which many may perceive as betrayal, and the people may decide to remove them from power; however, they would be satisfied and grateful if Armenia obtains lasting peace with a territory of 29,800 square kilometers.
Later, as citizens began organizing protests on the central streets of Yerevan after hearing this announcement, Pashinyan made a new statement on Facebook, asserting that no document has been signed and there are no plans to sign anything.
Following the Prime Minister, similar statements were made by the National Security Council, the NSS, the Speaker of Parliament, and individual representatives of the ruling party.
During this time, thousands of dissatisfied citizens were demanding Pashinyan's resignation in front of the parliament.
Opposition party members also joined the protests, promising that if 18 MPs from the ruling Civil Contract party join them, they are ready to initiate the impeachment process against the Prime Minister. After this announcement, they entered the parliament with a promise to carry this out.
