Peskov Reveals What Putin and Aliyev Will Discuss
The Kremlin is hopeful that a CSTO mission will arrive at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border this week. This topic will be discussed during the meeting between the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan, reported Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, to journalists. His remarks were quoted by RIA Novosti.
"This week, we hope that the inspection team, led by CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas, will indeed arrive at the border to prepare its report for the leaders of the CSTO member states. Tomorrow, Putin will meet with President Aliyev, where, of course, this will also be the main point on the agenda," he said.
It is worth noting that the meeting between the leaders of Russia and Azerbaijan will take place in Samarkand (Uzbekistan), where the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit is starting today. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was invited to the event as a guest but has canceled his visit due to the situation in Armenia.
Earlier, it was reported that Anatoly Sidorov, the head of the CSTO Joint Staff, along with his group, will arrive in Yerevan this evening.
