Iran Will Specially Resist Any Scenario: Iranian Embassy in Armenia
The Islamic Republic of Iran has clearly articulated its stance on developments occurring in the Caucasus region and its relations with two neighboring countries, the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan. This information was stated in a comment made by the Iranian Embassy in Armenia to “Lurer.”
“As we observed in news coverage regarding meetings between the Supreme Leader of the Revolution and the Presidents of Russia and Turkey, Iran opposes any violations of the territorial integrity and borders of neighboring countries and will specially resist any scenario that could harm the Iran-Armenia border, which represents a historical pathway connecting the two neighboring peoples,” the embassy stated.
This principled position has been reiterated during a phone conversation between the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the esteemed Prime Minister of Armenia, as well as between the foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian, during a phone call with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Bayramov, expressed concern regarding the new phase of clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan and emphasized Iran's commitment to supporting peaceful resolution of issues, while clearly stressing the importance of maintaining the territorial integrity of the two neighboring countries. He noted that the Iran-Armenia border is a historical communication route that must remain unchanged,” the embassy’s statement concluded.
