Peskov on the Arrival of the CSTO Mission in Armenia
The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) mission, headed by Secretary General Stanislav Zas, has not yet arrived in Armenia. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, to reporters on Wednesday.
“No, the CSTO mission has not arrived yet, as far as I know. After all, the decision was only made late last night, it still needs to be formed, and it needs to fly and reach there,” said the Kremlin spokesman.
It is worth noting that CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas will lead the mission in Armenia, as reported by the organization’s secretariat after the session results. It was also agreed to create a working group from the secretariat staff and military representatives of the Joint Staff for the purpose of permanent monitoring of the situation in the CSTO responsibility area.
Their task will be to assess the situation in the conflict zone with Azerbaijan, prepare reports for the heads of state, and develop recommendations for de-escalation of tensions. The mission will also include the head of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, and representatives from member countries of the organization.
