Nikol Pashinyan Will Not Attend Uzbekistan Meeting

Due to the situation created in Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will not participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to be held on September 15-16 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. This was announced by the press service of the Armenian government.

It is worth recalling that on September 9, the press secretary of the President of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Asadov, wrote on Telegram that Pashinyan would be present at the summit in a guest status.

The SCO summit will see the participation of leaders from 15 countries, including Russia, China, India, Kazakhstan, and others. Meanwhile, the leaders of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan are expected to attend in a guest status.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an international organization founded on June 15, 2001, by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. On June 9, 2017, India and Pakistan became full members of the SCO, and on September 17, 2021, the SCO leaders approved Iran's admission as a full member of the organization. Iran is expected to participate as a full member in the 2022 summit.
