Armenia Requests Military Support from CSTO: Pashinyan

Armenia has appealed to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) based on Article 4 of the Collective Security Treaty, which states that aggression against one member country is considered aggression against all member countries. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this in the National Assembly, as reported by Armenpress.

“We have requested support from the CSTO, including military assistance, to restore Armenia’s territorial integrity and ensure the withdrawal of Azerbaijani armed forces from Armenia's territory,” Pashinyan declared.

He noted that the Armenian side had also considered the incursion that occurred on May 12, 2021, in the Sotk-Khoznavar area. “We record this as a political objective that the aggressor must leave the territory of the Republic of Armenia,” the Prime Minister stated.

Addressing Armenia's political stance, Pashinyan said, “There is a border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, that border is recognized, and its recognition is confirmed by both countries. If Azerbaijan claims that such a thing does not exist, then many positions it has expressed in the general context lose their meaning and are without justification.”
