Tensions Rise in the Area of Lake Sevan: Yolyan

The situation around Lake Sevan in the Syunik region is tense, with gunfire being heard in Goris. This information was shared with Sputnik Armenia by Goris Deputy Mayor Irina Yolyan.

According to her, four houses in the Goris community have been damaged from shelling. The enemy is targeting civilian objects.

“Our forces are in the Lake Sevan area, and they will come back by the end of the day; we will know more news then,” Yolyan stated.

It is noteworthy that the Armenian Defense Ministry had earlier released a statement indicating that starting from September 13 at 00:05, Azerbaijani military units have been intensely firing artillery and large-caliber firearms towards Armenian positions in Goris, Sotk, and Jermuk. The adversary is also using drones. There have been casualties and injuries, with the confirmed number of fatalities reported as 49 during a Q&A session by the Prime Minister in the National Assembly.

The tense situation at the border continues, and in connection with Azerbaijan's aggression, the Armenian government has already appealed to Russia, the UN, and the CSTO.
