Gunfire Heard, Residents Urged to Stay in Place: Coordinator of Goris Security Council
At this moment, taking any action is the most dangerous thing to do; we just need to calm the residents down so that by morning we understand what we are dealing with. This was stated by Arthur Ghojabaghyan, the coordinator of the Goris Security Council, in an interview with NEWS.am.
“The safest place is the shelters; we have issued a statement urging people to stay in shelters because it is safer there. The roads are more dangerous; there will be traffic jams, and movements of military equipment will be hindered. Right now, the worst thing is to spread such news and leave the city. If a decision is made to evacuate the residents, we will address that then,” he said.
The coordinator of the Goris Security Council also reported that the situation is tense on the northern side, and gunfire can currently be heard. However, the situation in Goris itself is calm at the moment, although the population is anxious.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Defense of Armenia has also reported that starting from September 13 at 00:05, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have begun intense firing towards Armenian positions in the directions of Goris, Sotk, and Jermuk using artillery and large-caliber firearms. The opponents are also employing drones.
