"Grief is grief, but you should not mourn, rather be proud": Nikol Pashinyan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wants people, when talking about soldiers, to focus on themselves rather than on others.  “Who is that potential soldier, if it’s not us? Who said that we should not be that potential soldier? We must tell our family members: you know what, for the sake of our homeland, if something happens to us, grief is grief, but you should not mourn, rather be proud of us. Do not fill yourselves with hatred towards those who are alive; rather, see this as the purpose of our sacrifice,” he declared in the National Assembly.

He mentioned that after the 44-day war, he had received thousands of questions: “What did you do to stop the war?”, but no one asked him, “Did you do anything to win the war?”

“I was expecting it, but no one asked. Everyone knew that at some point, there would be a war and said, ‘Well, we will stop it.’ How? How are you going to stop it, if you don’t have that will and have not built an institution to ensure that will?” said Nikol Pashinyan.
