VIDEO: Simonyan Discusses Azerbaijani Provocations

Azerbaijan has consistently sought to leverage the tense situation during negotiations. This opinion was expressed by the President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, during a conversation with journalists.

It should be noted that over the past week, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense has issued false statements almost every day, claiming that Armenian forces have fired shots in various directions along the contact line.

'Azerbaijan has always had this tactic. However, contrary to all the predictions made before and after the elections that the current Azerbaijani authorities do not want to negotiate, the negotiation process continues, and the Azerbaijani leader speaks of peace. We are familiar with Azerbaijan's style, but that doesn't mean we should sit back and say that these statements mean nothing,' said Simonyan.

He mentioned that the Armenian side's attitude towards the statements of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense is to closely monitor and be ready for any developments.

Simonyan added that there are red lines for Armenia in negotiations with Azerbaijan, which Azerbaijan is also aware of. According to him, Armenia continues to operate within this framework.

He also stated that they will pursue the peace process actively. According to the Speaker of the National Assembly, both they and the citizens of Armenia believe that resolving security issues should be a priority. He explained that security issues can be addressed in two ways: by establishing peace with neighbors and by having a strong army.

'Steps are being taken towards military reforms, from legislative initiatives to significant personnel changes. We will move forward. Before the war, it was said that the army had been decapitated, but that has not happened. It is clear that there are now significant changes.' Simonyan added that Defense Minister Suren Papikyan is performing his duties quite successfully.
