Academic City Designed for Up to 50,000 People: Pashinyan Visits Artashat
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the Institute of Physical Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia located in the city of Artashat, Aragatsotn Province, where the concept of the Academic City was discussed. This was reported by the Government of Armenia.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Arayik Harutyunyan, Head of the Prime Minister's Staff, Vahram Dumanyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Suren Tovmasyan, Head of the Cadastre Committee, and other representatives of concerned agencies.
The Academic City is planned to be located within the premises of the Institute of Physical Research and the Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics of the National Academy of Sciences, as well as other surrounding areas. It will accommodate up to 8 higher educational institutions, complete with all necessary infrastructure. A preliminary layout of the city has already been developed, which ensures that all conditions required for students and faculty members will be created.
In addition to educational institutions, the city will also include residential areas, research centers, sports facilities, parks, and an amphitheater. The city is designed to serve up to 50,000 people.
Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized the importance of developing an action plan with a clear timeline. He highlighted the necessity of ensuring all the essential infrastructure for the city, including transport networks. According to the Prime Minister, the establishment of the Academic City will also contribute to the development of Aragatsotn and surrounding provinces, as well as the formation of educational and research clusters. Nikol Pashinyan noted that the project is among the government’s priorities, and in the context of effectively implementing it, he has given a series of instructions to the responsible agencies.
