Portugal Suspends Golden Visas for Russians
Since February, Portugal has not approved any applications for "golden visas" from Russian citizens. This was reported by the Publico newspaper, citing the Foreigners and Borders Service.
“From the end of February to August, the Foreigners and Borders Service received ten applications for these visas from Russian citizens, and all were rejected,” the agency clarified.
The ban on "golden visas" for Russian citizens has also been announced by Spain and the United Kingdom. On Friday, the EU Council officially confirmed the previously adopted decision to fully suspend the simplified visa regime with Russia, which will come into effect on September 12. After the start of this decision, general rules for visa issuance will apply to Russian citizens, the visa fee will be 80 euros, additional documents will be required for the visa application, and processing times will increase.
