Certificate of Financial Support Issued to 14 Families Displaced from Berdzor, Mayor Reports
The mayor of Berdzor, Narek Aleksanyan, reported to NEWS.am that 14 families displaced from Berdzor and temporarily residing in the Norq area of Yerevan have been granted certificates of support amounting to 10 million AMD, as a priority measure to encourage them to leave these buildings. He added that the remaining families have not yet received their support certificates.
“This program provides state assistance for the displaced residents to obtain new housing. We all understand that 10 million is not much for acquiring at least a decent apartment; however, it is the government’s support. Meanwhile, the state is providing new apartments to families resettled in Artsakh,” he stated.
Addressing Azerbaijan's policy regarding the resettlement of Azerbaijanis in Berdzor, the mayor noted that currently, only military personnel are present in Berdzor, Agavnok, and Sus, which have come under Azerbaijani control; there are no civilian individuals yet.
Narek Aleksanyan mentioned that the displaced residents from Berdzor have primarily been resettled in Armenia, with only a few families choosing to remain in Artsakh.
It is noteworthy that the Azerbaijani army entered and established its presence in the administrative center of Berdzor, as well as in the villages of Agavnok and Sus, on August 26. Artsakh is now connected to Armenia via a new route.
