VIDEO: What Does the Government Envision? Car Sellers Oppose New Decision

Citizens engaged in the resale of cars at the Erebuni car market expressed their concerns in an interview with NEWS.am regarding the Government's decision to construct a new car market covering an area of 5 hectares. According to the government, the new market will also include police and customs checkpoints to enable on-site customs clearance of vehicles. There will also be opportunities for registration and obtaining state license plates.

However, traders believe that such changes do not necessitate the construction of a new car market. "Our car market has been operating for over 20 years, it is very large, and all conveniences are available here; they can install their envisioned customs and police checkpoints. What is the issue? They probably just want to develop someone else's business," said one of the citizens involved in car resale.

Citizens are concerned that the market might be located outside the city, resulting in additional expenses for them. "Most of the citizens engaged in sales here are from Yerevan. What is the government envisioning? I sell four cars here. Should I move my four cars, for instance, to Artashat and make the city buyers call periodically so I have to return?" another citizen expressed.

The citizens stated that they are even ready to organize a protest, blocking the roads with their vehicles, as they do not want to leave the car market.
