What the resident of Arzakan, who took the lives of two men, told law enforcement

The case of a 46-year-old man in Arzakan has shocked everyone, particularly the reasons behind his actions, including the murder of his wife and subsequently stabbing a colleague from the same company, injuring a neighbor, and attacking another man, reports ArmLur.am.

There were reports suggesting that the man might have health issues; however, it turns out he did not have any health problems. Instead, he acted out of a desperate attempt for revenge triggered by the situation. According to information received, the man had suspicions and jealousy regarding his wife, and when he found certain evidence, his emotions led him to seek retribution against those he suspected.

After his actions, he voluntarily presented himself to law enforcement.

As reported earlier, on August 27, 2022, around 03:30 AM, the 46-year-old man entered his neighbor's bedroom through an open window, assaulted him, and inflicted several knife wounds to various parts of his body. As part of the criminal proceedings, it was discovered that the man's wife was also found dead in his bedroom, with her neck partially cut.

Days later, on August 30, 2022, at approximately 08:30 AM, Zhorik Melkonyan stabbed two employees of the same company in the vicinity of 8th street, Balagovit village in the Kotayk region, using a knife he had with him. As a result, one of the victims died, and the other was diagnosed with a "stab wound on the left flank" and transported to the Abovyan Medical Center.

The man in question is 46-year-old Zhorik Melkonyan, who surrendered to law enforcement after the incident. He has been charged under various sections of the Criminal Code of Armenia, including Article 155, Part 2, Point 9, Article 155, Part 1, Article 44-155, Part 1 (2 episodes), Article 207, Part 1, and Article 252, Part 2, Point 5. A motion has been submitted to the court requesting his detention as a measure of restraint, which was granted.
