New Traffic Signal System Installed at Right-Turning Intersections in Yerevan

Under the initiative of the Yerevan Municipality, a new additional traffic signal is being installed at right-turning intersections, which will inform drivers of the concurrent activation of the pedestrian green light.

The municipality reports that the first signal has been installed and is operational at the intersection of Agatangeghos and Grigor Lusavorich streets, as well as at the crossing of Arshakunyats Avenue and Agatangeghos Street.

"Drivers' visibility can sometimes be limited, and they may miss the moment when the pedestrian signal is activated simultaneously. From now on, when the pedestrian green light is illuminated, this new signal will also alert drivers. This is the first one. There are 27 such intersections in Yerevan, and similar new visual signals will be installed at all remaining intersections," noted Hayk Sargsyan, the acting head of the transport department at the Yerevan Municipality.

The work has been carried out in cooperation with the Traffic Police of Armenia. The main aim of the initiative is to reduce the number of accidents and ensure safe traffic conditions.
