Pashinyan Outlines Three Priorities for Armenia

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received participants of the National Assembly's "Summer School" program. During the meeting, Pashinyan outlined what he considers to be the priorities for Armenia in the visible future.

"I would highlight three main directions: the first is peace, the second is education, and the third is the army. It may seem that the first and third contradict each other, but they do not, because in the government’s program, we have also emphasized that Armenia needs a strong army not to carry out aggressive actions but to protect our country's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Therefore, these three are the priorities for me today. Education is symbolically at the center, and I believe that education is central for both peace and the army and security. We are also implementing significant reforms in the field of education right now," he stated.

Pashinyan continued, "Today is September 2nd, and yesterday was September 1st. These are two very important and symbolic days for us. You know that on this day in 1991, the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast and Shahumyan Region MPs jointly adopted the Declaration of Independence of Nagorno-Karabakh, and September 1st is Knowledge Day. I believe that the relationship or symbolism of these two days is very important for our future. Why? Because we are essentially talking about a period and processes that ultimately led to the declaration of independence in the Republic of Armenia."
