It’s Warmer Here Than at Home: Scandalous New Cartoon from Charlie Hebdo Amid Energy Crisis in France
The renowned French magazine Charlie Hebdo has published a cartoon reflecting the state of modern Europe, depicting French President Emmanuel Macron using water cannons to disperse protestors.
According to the cartoon, people are happy because the water is much warmer than at home. The French President is shouting, 'Stay home and don't complain.' In response, French protesters note, 'Here, the water is warmer than at home.' Below, there is a character resembling Vladimir Zelensky.
It is noteworthy that an energy crisis has arisen in Europe following the imposition of sanctions against Russia in response to the military operations commenced in Ukraine on February 24.
It has been reported that the Russian company Gazprom ceased natural gas supplies to the French energy conglomerate Engie starting September 1. On Tuesday evening, August 30, Gazprom Export indicated it had not received complete payments for the raw materials supplied to the French side according to July contracts.
The decision from Gazprom will remain in effect 'until the full receipt of funds for the supplied gas,' the Russian side noted. Previously, on July 20, it was reported that the European Commission proposed new legislative measures as well as a European plan to reduce gas demand.
