We Do Not Care That the US Is Refusing to Sell F-35 Fighters to Turkey, Says Erdogan
Turkey is not concerned about the US refusing to sell F-35 fighters to it, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated.
"We do not care if they do not give us the F-35 or respond to our purchased defense systems," Erdogan's words were quoted by Haberler.
The country's leader added that Turkey is "capable of producing any item that is denied to it."
It was previously reported that US Senator Menendez referred to Turkey as the greatest threat in the Eastern Mediterranean. He stated that Ankara poses a challenge to Greece's sovereignty with provocative flights over the Aegean Sea.
"Violations of airspace by fighter jets are unacceptable behavior for any country," the politician added.
It should be noted that the US excluded Turkey from the F-35 program due to the acquisition of Russian S-400 air defense systems by the country. Following the start of operation Z, President Erdogan refused to transfer the S-400s to Ukraine despite requests from Americans.
