Gazprom Stops Gas Supply to France

Gazprom has halted gas supplies to the French company Engie due to unpaid invoices for deliveries in July, according to a statement from the Russian company. This was reported by RBK.

"As of the end of the working day on August 30, Gazprom Export has not received full payment for gas supplied to Engie (France) under contracts for July. In this regard, Gazprom Export has notified Engie of a complete cessation of gas supplies since September 1, 2022, until the funds for the supplied gas are received in full," the statement said.

Gazprom also reminded that back in March, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed that payments for gas from unfriendly countries (including all EU countries, the USA, the UK, and several other nations) should be made in rubles. Therefore, the French company is required to make payments under the new scheme.
