IAEA Mission Departing for Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant: Grossi

The IAEA mission is departing for the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant. This was announced by the organization’s Director General Rafael Grossi.

He stated on his Twitter page that the group is set to arrive this week. “The day has come; the mission to support and assist the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant is already on its way. We must ensure the safety of the largest nuclear facility in Ukraine and Europe. I am proud to lead this mission, which will be on site this week,” Grossi wrote.

Yevgeny Balitsky, head of the Zaporizhia regional administration, said that local authorities are prepared to ensure the safety of the IAEA mission.

The authorities in Enerhodar reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces intend to organize a series of provocations to disrupt the IAEA mission’s visit. The Ukrainian armed forces have frequently fired towards the nuclear power plant, which has led to a threat of nuclear disaster.
