Medvedev on Negotiation Prospects with Ukraine
The prospects for negotiations at the highest level between Russia and Ukraine depend on the development of events. Such discussions are possible only under certain conditions, stated Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council.
Medvedev accused the Ukrainian side of halting negotiations. He added that Kyiv's refusal to join NATO is now necessary, but no longer sufficient for achieving peace; Moscow requires security guarantees.
“Russia did not choose the toughest scenario for its special military operation, although in that case, the conflict would have ended more quickly,” Medvedev asserted.
The official also commented on Russia-West relations, assuring that if European politicians wish to restore relations, Moscow would not oppose it.
