Turkish Citizen Crosses Araks River and Enters Janfida Village

Yesterday, a border violation incident occurred in the village of Janfida. According to Hraparak.am sources, the entire village was occupied with the case of a citizen who crossed into Armenia from Turkey throughout the night.

The matter is that Janfida is one of the border villages located near the most shallow part of the Araks River, which is often crossable even on foot during this time of year. Cutting through the barbed wire and entering the village is not particularly difficult.

The media reports that the individual who crossed the border this time was a middle-aged man, who claimed he was not Turkish but Kurdish when apprehended by the villagers. The village authorities contacted the National Security Service (NSS), who arrived to transport the border violator.

The media attempted to reach the Janfida village administration for comments, but they refrained from providing any information. Reports from the village indicate that they received instructions from the NSS not to say anything. Meanwhile, the NSS's press service neither confirmed nor denied the information, promising to investigate and call back, but they have not made further contact.
