Azerbaijan Believes It Can Decide: Edmond Marukyan
Azerbaijan believes it can decide whether the U.S. will appoint a co-chair for the Minsk Group or not. This was stated by special envoy Edmond Marukyan on his Facebook page.
“They can assert that Nagorno-Karabakh does not exist and that the Karabakh conflict is resolved, but the entire international community expresses a different opinion—that for long-term peace, the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is necessary. In other words, it is established that Nagorno-Karabakh exists and that there is a conflict surrounding it, without the resolution of which we will be far from peace. Military success blinds one, but then becomes the basis for failures,” Marukyan wrote.
Earlier, the head of the press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Leyla Abdullayeva, commented on U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken's announcement regarding the appointment of Ambassador Philip Riker as Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations. Abdullayeva described this move as an approach distant from the realities of the region.
