Russia Does Not Deploy Weapons at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and Does Not Use the Site for Military Purposes: Nebenzya

Russia does not deploy heavy weapons at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) and does not use the facility for military purposes. This was stated by Vasily Nebenzya, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, during a UN Security Council meeting.

“We confirm that there is a healthy working atmosphere at the plant, and no one is pressuring anyone there. Contrary to the false statements of the Kyiv regime and its curators, Russia does not deploy heavy weapons in the ZNPP area and does not use the plant for military purposes,” Nebenzya said.

According to him, the Russian Ministry of Defense is ready to provide photographs to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) showing that there are no weapons, let alone heavy weapons, in the vicinity of the facility.

“About two weeks have passed since the previous meeting of the Council dedicated to the Zaporizhzhia NPP. During this time, the situation related to nuclear safety has worsened,” Nebenzya stated.

The Russian permanent representative to the UN announced that Russia expects IAEA specialists to visit the Zaporizhzhia NPP soon and expressed readiness to provide maximum support.

“We expect that the IAEA mission will take place in the near future, and the agency's experts will be able to present the actual condition of the plant. We are ready to assist in every possible way with all organizational matters,” Nebenzya said during the UN Security Council meeting.

It is worth noting that Ukrainian military forces continue to regularly shell Enerhodar, surrounding villages, and the area of the Zaporizhzhia NPP adjacent to the city.
