When the US Can Support Peace Establishment Between Armenia and Azerbaijan: Ned Price

The United States continues its efforts towards establishing a comprehensive and long-term peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” stated Ned Price, spokesman for the State Department, during a press briefing with journalists.

“We have expressed our deep concern regarding the recent fighting in and around Nagorno-Karabakh, which resulted in human casualties and injuries. We called for immediate steps to de-escalate tensions and avoid further escalations between the parties. The recent spike in tensions underscores the necessity to negotiate and comprehensively and sustainably resolve all issues related to or stemming from the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” Price noted.

Price also added that the US remains committed to continuing its efforts with the parties involved. “We will continue to do so both bilaterally and with like-minded partners in the European Union, as well as in our role as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, helping the countries find a long-term comprehensive peace,” Price stated.

“We have always acknowledged that this will not be a linear process. We are confident that through continuous dialogue, including at the highest levels, we can do everything possible to promote enduring comprehensive peace,” Price concluded.
