“The Next Disaster Zone Could Be Right Here”: Gegham Nazaryan

MP Gegham Nazaryan from the Armenia bloc wrote on his Facebook page: “The next disaster zone could be right here. I am warning now, so you can’t say no one warned you. A multi-story building is being constructed in the city center, right above a busy thoroughfare, of course for commercial or business purposes.

The building is being constructed over the metro, in an area where the river Getar has a high tendency to overflow. During the Soviet years, even a two-story building was not constructed in this area. Not because they could not, but because it was not allowed. Now they are building.

Who has permitted a high-rise construction here? Do you not know that this building doesn’t have a proper foundation? I have been following the construction since the very beginning and have seen how the columns started constructing this monstrous structure without a proper base. Do you really not know that it is above the metro and where the Getar river flows?

I want to hear from the specialists who will publicly declare that this building is being constructed in compliance with urban planning norms. I want to hear from the officials who granted the construction permit.”
