Direct Communication with Putin is Very Important: Scholz

Direct communications with Russian President Vladimir Putin are essential, stated German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in an interview with the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter. This was reported by РИА новости.

“No matter how difficult it may be, direct communication is crucial, especially in times of crisis. I want our messages to reach the President of Russia directly,” Scholz explained.

According to the politician, this way he intends to convey the West's position regarding the special operation in Ukraine to the Russian leader.

Additionally, Scholz added that he does not consider it possible to normalize bilateral relations with Moscow in the “foreseeable future.”
