Light and Communication Will Be Cut Off on the Morning of August 20: Aghavno Must Be Cleared by Then
By August 20, we must be able to completely evacuate the village; everyone wants to stay, but that is not possible. On the morning of August 20, light and communication will be cut off, and there may also be no water. We are facing numerous challenges. The primary concern now is to peacefully evacuate the residents from the village. This was noted by Aghavno village leader Andranik Chavushyan in a conversation with 24News.
According to him, the residents of Aghavno are being relocated in three directions: Artsakh, Syunik, and the outskirts of Yerevan. They are facing challenges related to the relocation, and these issues need to be organized. “The homeland belongs to all of us; we must be able to help people. At this moment, we need manpower so that residents can transport their belongings instead of being forced to burn them. People are taking their things out and do not know where to take them; they cannot find affordable housing in Yerevan. We cannot say everything openly; I can only say that by the 25th, everyone should manage to leave the area, including workers, so that no further issues arise,” he added.
As already mentioned, on August 5, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Artsakh, Hayk Khanumyan, discussed the evacuation of Aghavno, Nerkhin Sus, and Berdzor residents by August 25 with the local population, community, and regional government officials as part of the civil defense plan.
Earlier, Artsakh’s President Araik Harutyunyan, addressing the handover of Berdzor and Aghavno, had stated that the likelihood of our compatriots living in Berdzor is considered very low, while negotiations regarding the village of Aghavno are ongoing and there is a need to fight.
