Armenian Athlete Defeats Turkish Opponent, Turks Attempted to Retaliate
In the quarter-finals of the European Youth Championship held in Erzurum, 75 kg weight category athlete Haik Ghahramanyan achieved an impressive victory over Turkish boxer Batu Basi. Utilizing his height advantage, our athlete effectively leveraged his physical attributes.
According to the Armenian Boxing Federation, Ghahramanyan won the first round with a score of 4:1. In the second round, he increased the pressure and won it 5:0. The third round became quite tumultuous, as the Turkish boxer attempted to salvage the match, and the referee made an unnecessary reprimand towards Ghahramanyan. However, moments later, the Armenian boxer knocked down his Turkish opponent with a right side punch, prompting the referee to stop the bout.
This decision infuriated the Turkish coaches and federation representatives, who attempted to retaliate against the officiating team. It is noteworthy that by reaching the semi-finals, Haik Ghahramanyan has also secured a medal.
