Republican Stadium May Face Disqualification: Statement from the Football Federation of Armenia and FC Pyunik

Recently, during international matches held in Armenia, there have been incidents incompatible with football matches and, in general, with sports, which could have serious consequences for Armenian football. Dozens of citizens, mostly teenagers, have entered the pitch, and there have been regular reports of brawls in the stands, as well as various political actions.

This was stated in a joint announcement by the Football Federation of Armenia and FC Pyunik. The only stadium in Armenia that meets European standards, the Republican Stadium, may face disqualification if football fans continue to engage in various actions after matches. In that case, both the Armenian national team and our clubs will be forced to hold home matches at neutral venues in other countries.

Almost all international matches held in Armenia this year have seen such incidents, for which the FFA and Armenian clubs have faced penalties. Given that FC Pyunik will participate in the group stage of one of the European competitions this year and is set to host at least four home matches, as well as the upcoming match between the national teams of Armenia and Ukraine scheduled for September 24 in Yerevan, the FFA calls on all interested parties to jointly prevent any manifestations unrelated to the game of football.

Parents are urged not to allow their children to enter the pitch, and media outlets are requested not to spread videos and photos depicting the unrest.
