Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant Accident Could Exceed Chernobyl Disaster, Nebenzya

The UN Security Council meeting regarding the situation around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has commenced in New York. Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, accused Kyiv of attacking the nuclear plant, providing examples and stating that an accident at the Zaporizhzhia facility could exceed the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.

During the meeting, Rafael Grossi, the head of the IAEA, mentioned that there is currently no 'immediate threat' to nuclear safety at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

In turn, the representative of China urged both parties to sit down at the negotiating table.

It is worth noting that the U.S. State Department has declared that Russia bears full responsibility for all potential risks at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
