Iran Calls U.S. Assassination Attempt Claims 'Laughable and Baseless'

Iran has labeled the U.S. accusations of an assassination attempt against former White House national security advisor John Bolton and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as 'laughable and baseless'.

According to Kommersant, the scandal arose at a time when Washington and Tehran were supposed to decide whether they were ready to accept EU proposals that would allow them to return to the 'nuclear deal'.

Notably, the U.S. Department of Justice has accused the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of attempting to orchestrate the murder of John Bolton. The American Axios website reports that the Iranians were also preparing a plot against former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
