What the Head of the Russian Peacekeeping Mission in Nagorno-Karabakh Said: Vahram Ghahramanyan Details

The former prosecutor of Shushi in Artsakh, Vahram Ghahramanyan, shared details in an interview with Radar Armenia about a meeting with the head of the Russian peacekeeping mission, Major General Andrey Volkov, and representatives of extra-parliamentary forces and NGOs.

According to him, Volkov assured that the emerging issues would be addressed. “We expressed our concerns, stating that Russian peacekeepers must ensure the safety of the Artsakh Armenians. The Russian general told us that the powers of the peacekeepers are limited. Later, it was mentioned that they reported to their superiors that Azerbaijan had grossly violated the provisions of the November 9, 2020 statement,” he said.

According to Ghahramanyan, the head of the peacekeeping mission promised that they would prevent such incidents and would conduct a more intensive service. During the meeting, the general informed that an application had already been submitted to the higher command to expand the powers of Russian peacekeepers.

Vahram Ghahramanyan noted that the issue of evacuating people from Berdzor and surrounding villages was not discussed during the meeting. Regarding the alternative road in Lachin, Volkov stated that it should be operational in a month and a half, and it will be monitored by Russian peacekeepers from both sides.

It should be noted that the head of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Artsakh, Major General Andrey Volkov, met with representatives of extra-parliamentary forces and NGOs in Artsakh.
