VIDEO: Come through the Republic of Armenia and head to Nakhchivan, says Pashinyan to Azerbaijanis
Azerbaijan can cross the Republic of Armenia's borders at several points and conduct traffic towards Nakhchivan. This was stated today by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a session of the Armenian government.
“Today we are also saying, according to Armenian legislation, come and cross the state border of Armenia, go to Nakhchivan, even today. We are ready to secure it today,” he said.
Pashinyan reminded that since 2021, customs checkpoints have been operating in Armenia, which, when crossed according to established procedures, allow Azerbaijan to reach Nakhchivan through the territory of Armenia.
He also emphasized that this has been officially communicated to Azerbaijan.
Pashinyan noted that it is literally stated in the trilateral declaration that Armenia is obliged to ensure the connection of Azerbaijan's western regions with Nakhchivan.
“The westernmost region of Azerbaijan is the Kazakh region. We are ready, let them come, cross, go to Nakhchivan, and we guarantee the security of that section,” Pashinyan said, clarifying that Armenia is prepared to provide routes both through Kazakh-Berd and also in the directions of Vardenis, Sisian, Goris, and Eraskh.
The Prime Minister emphasized that customs points have long been installed at all these sections, but Azerbaijan has never attempted to utilize them.
