They Want to Connect to Nakhichevan Through Meghri, But We Have No Teeth to Show: Tatoul Hakobyan's Analysis
“Azerbaijan aims to assert a sovereign corridor in the Meghri section through its recent actions. This is Azerbaijan's demand; everything else being done in the form of statements are merely effects,” journalist Tatoul Hakobyan said during a Facebook live stream today, commenting on the escalation of the situation in Artsakh.
“In reality, they are demanding that we provide a road along the banks of the Meghri River, which would allow them to connect easily with Nakhichevan. In other words, Azerbaijan is saying, ‘If you want to connect with Artsakh through a corridor controlled by the Russians, then we must also be able to connect with Nakhichevan via Meghri,’” he noted.
According to Hakobyan, if we say no, will we strengthen ourselves, and will we be able to bear the consequences? Armenia currently lacks the capability to show any strength. We have none now, and we also have no allies.
