Russian Peacekeepers Make Every Effort, Says Russian Foreign Ministry

The Russian Federation's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is deeply concerned about the escalation of the situation around the Lachin Corridor and other parts of the contact line, according to a statement from the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement said, “Russian peacekeepers are making every necessary effort to stabilize the situation on the ground. Active work is being conducted through all channels and at all levels, including with the highest leadership of the country, with both sides. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Lavrov, is in close contact with his Azerbaijani and Armenian counterparts.

We urge the parties to exercise restraint and adhere to the ceasefire regime. The resolution of existing disputes should occur exclusively through political-diplomatic means, taking into account the positions of the parties and strictly adhering to the provisions of the statement made by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia on November 9, 2020.

We are convinced that the efforts of the parties should be focused on forming a positive agenda in relations between Baku and Yerevan within the existing trilateral negotiation formats,” the statement emphasizes.

The RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs also extended condolences to the relatives and friends of those who lost their lives due to the escalation of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
