Medvedev Comments on Hacker Attack on His VKontakte Page
Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council and former President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev has commented on the hacker attack on his VKontakte page on August 2.
Two days ago, a post appeared on Medvedev's page stating that after the end of the military conflict in Ukraine, Russia would restore its historical borders, specifically mentioning Georgia and Kazakhstan, according to kommersant.ru.
Medvedev characterized the hacking of his page as a manifestation of "information warfare," aimed at sowing discord among friends of Russia and the CIS countries.
According to the Deputy Chairman, "hostile countries" are trying to pit allies against each other within the frameworks of the CSTO, EAEU, and SCO. He stated, "There are numerous hostile countries and political figures interested in dividing allies within the CSTO, EAEU, and SCO frameworks. We will not provide them with this pleasure, and all the work of our state authorities and our partners is directed towards this. The methods of such ‘work’ are obvious—throw something crude or sensitive into the media space under a well-known person's name regarding neighbors, play with historical narratives, wait for the inevitable removal of disinformation, and then trade it. It seems that everything in Russia was done purposefully, sending a harsh signal to the neighbors, and then diplomatically removing it. There are no traces left, but the 'sit-down' remains. Here are the 'real intentions of the Russians.' Here are their 'aggressive plans,'" Medvedev wrote on his VKontakte page.
