Video: Participants of the Brawl Flee Upon Seeing Patrol Officers
On August 1, an extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan. Around 10:30 PM, the police received a report of a fight taking place among a group of citizens near the "Yerevan City" supermarket located on Rubinyants Street in the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district.
According to photographer Gagik Shamshyan from the scene, when the squad commander and patrol officers approached the participants of the fight, they fled in different directions. The patrol managed to chase and apprehend a few of them. Then, the operational group of the Kanaker-Zeytun police arrived, who took the detained individuals to the police station.
At the scene, squad commander N. Avetisyan received operational information that two of the fighters had fled in a Nissan March vehicle. He was informed about the direction they were heading.
N. Avetisyan and the patrol pursued, then stopped the Nissan March at the intersection of Dro and Paruir Sevak streets, apprehending two individuals to take them to the Kanaker-Zeytun police station. One of them had what appeared to be bloodstains on their clothing.
According to G. Shamshyan, the detained individuals are 35-year-old Grigor D. from Yerevan, 25-year-old Papin V. from Gegharkunik province, and 27-year-old Vahe M. from Yerevan. The police in Kanaker-Zeytun are taking necessary operational measures to identify and locate other participants of the brawl.
Several citizens gathered at the scene, who refused to speak on camera, reported, "There were about 10 people. They were arguing with each other. Then it turned into a brawl. But as soon as they saw the patrol cars, they fled. However, we saw that some of the fleeing individuals were still apprehended by the patrol officers and taken away in their cars. We are sure that if the patrol had not acted quickly and subdued these individuals, the fight would have escalated and could have ended tragically. Some of them also had blood on their clothes."
