VIDEO: Protesters Storm Iraqi Parliament Building Again
Supporters of the influential Shia political leader Muqtada al-Sadr have stormed Baghdad's Green Zone once again, an area that houses government institutions and foreign diplomatic representations.
The protesters dismantled several concrete slabs that form the barrier around the Green Zone. Clashes occurred between the protesters and the police, with law enforcement employing special measures. According to unofficial reports, around 60 people were injured.
It is worth noting that al-Sadr's supporters had previously seized the Iraqi parliament building on July 27. They were protesting against the candidacy of Mohammad al-Sudani for the position of Prime Minister. Later, under al-Sadr's orders, they withdrew from the building.
