Three Defendants in the 'Gyumri Elderly' Case Released from Detention
Members of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, Arsen Martoyan, Gevorg Muradyan, and Gor Matevosyan are set to be released. Lawyer Abgar Poghosyan announced on his Facebook page: “Arsen Martoyan, Gevorg Muradyan, and Gor Matevosyan will be released. Further details will be provided later. Taron Manukyan and Gor Sargsyan will remain in detention.”
It is worth recalling that on May 8, during a car rally organized by the opposition, an altercation occurred between citizens standing on Yerevan Highway in Gyumri and participants of the rally. The Investigative Committee reported that a group of young men exited their vehicles, approached elderly men standing at a public transport stop, and began to physically assault them.
The opposition, in turn, stated that the incident was a provocation, asserting that prior to the altercation, individuals had thrown eggs and stones at the cars of the rally participants and uttered insults.
Additionally, it was noted that charges have been brought against seven individuals in this case, with detention being chosen as a preventive measure for five of them.
