How Much Have Rental Prices for Apartments Increased? "Joghourt"

According to the "Joghourt" newspaper, rental prices for apartments in Armenia are angering citizens. Moreover, these prices have risen not only in Yerevan but also in other regional cities. For instance, in Echmiadzin and Vanadzor, rental prices for apartments start from 70,000 to 80,000 drams and can reach as high as 150,000 to 200,000 drams. There are also apartments with even higher rental prices, starting from 250,000 drams.

For example, the rent for a 65 square meter apartment in the 3rd district of Nork is 350,000 drams, while in the Arabkir administrative district, the monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment starts from $1,000. On Azatutyun Boulevard, the monthly rent for a 50 square meter apartment is 380,000 drams.

Recalling that as early as April, the government promised to regulate the rental housing market by increasing the number of rental apartments and thereby curbing the inflation that had arisen in the market, little has been done. This sector remains in a state of disarray. Due to the high rental prices, citizens even hold protest actions in front of government buildings.
