Pedestrian Injured in Sevan Accident Dies in Hospital
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has initiated a criminal case regarding a pedestrian accident that occurred in the Gegharkunik region on July 26, as decided by Senior Investigator Andranik Mkheyan from the Sevan Investigative Department.
On the same day, at 11:30 AM, a report was received at the Sevan police department from the hospital indicating that the pedestrian who had been injured in the accident had died in the intensive care unit without regaining consciousness.
According to shamshyan.com, around 03:00 AM that day, a 47-year-old resident of Yerevan, Armen M., driving an Opel Vectra, struck a pedestrian on the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan highway at the 60 km mark. The pedestrian, 72-year-old Mnacakn M., was a resident of the Gegharkunik region.
The driver did not flee the scene, instead calling the Sevan Medical Center and promptly transporting the injured pedestrian with the on-call medical team to the hospital. Afterward, the driver contacted the Sevan police department to report the incident.
The driver underwent a sobriety test, and it was confirmed that he was sober. Following the investigator's instructions, the vehicle was taken to a secured area of the Sevan police department.
