Azerbaijan's Provocation by Special Services Against Armenia: Union of NSS Reserve Officers

The Union of NSS Reserve Officers has issued a statement regarding the conference of special services from Turkic-speaking countries, which took place on July 26 in Kyrgyzstan, with the participation of delegations from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and the host country.

“On July 26, the conference of special services from Turkic-speaking countries was held in Kyrgyzstan, involving delegations from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and the host country. In his speech, Azerbaijani National Security Minister, General Ali Nagiyev, specifically stated that the revanchist forces in Armenia have not abandoned their intentions, and that Armenian opposition forces are making serious attempts against the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. He added that thanks to the vigilance of Azerbaijani special services, every step and process related to this will be prevented.

The speech of the Azerbaijani National Security Minister at the conference is a blatant interference in the internal political developments of Armenia, a precedent that has never existed before. We can confidently state that the audacious speech of Ali Nagiyev at the aforementioned conference is not characteristic of him; it is solely dictated by Armenia's current difficult situation, as well as the awareness that no adequate response will be given to his inappropriate remarks by the Armenian authorities.

Ali Nagiyev is the person who, repeatedly participating in the meetings of the heads of security agencies of CIS countries, distinguished himself with his behavior constrained by the presence of the Armenian delegation; it was evident that he was complexed by the syndrome of a loser (in an upcoming publication, we will address the atmosphere in which such meetings were held with the participation of Azerbaijani delegations).

Interestingly, between 2005 and 2011, while serving as the First Deputy National Security Minister of Azerbaijan, Ali Nagiyev managed to avoid criminal liability when his superior, General Eldar Mahmudov, and several high-ranking officials of the system were scrutinized under accusations of banditry. It is hard to imagine that a person holding such a high office could be free from the criminal phenomena existing in the upper echelons of the system. The irony is that today, the head of a structure involved in such criminal offenses is issuing threats against the Armenian opposition. By not responding to such facts, the country undermines its own credibility,” the statement reads.
