Azerbaijan Applies to Join the Islamic Quartet: Cavusoglu
Azerbaijan has submitted an application to join the "Islamic Quartet." This was announced by Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, according to Azerbaijani media sources.
The Turkish official also noted that the organization needs strengthening and empowerment.
The decision to establish the "Islamic Quartet" was made in November 1996 in Istanbul, with the first summit taking place on June 15, 1997. The organization includes eight countries: Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Egypt, and Nigeria.
