I Often Encounter Turks in Yerevan and Various Regions, Says Nairi Hokhikyan

I do not rule out that this was not a deliberately organized act at the state level, but rather some kind of adventure by a young man. This was noted by Nairi Hokhikyan, a member of the liberation movement and media expert, during a press conference, referring to a video that circulated days ago showing a Turkish citizen visiting Tsitsernakaberd and displaying the symbol of the Gray Wolves organization while stating in Turkish that he was at the theater.

“People often ask, what was that Turk doing in Yerevan? There are many Turks in Armenia. I frequently encounter Turks in Yerevan and various regions of Armenia, and I often inform state structures that there are such people here,” he said.

Hokhikyan recounted that during the 44-day war, they accidentally discovered a journalist of Turkish origin in Artsakh, who was documenting everything. “When we confiscated his press accreditation card, it turned out that it had expired in January 2019. When we turned to the relevant authorities in Armenia, they said that they had issued the accreditation but did not even check that it had expired two years ago.”

Hokhikyan noted that Turkish tourists frequently visit Armenia, just as many Armenians travel to Turkey as tourists, and they also take photos, for example, posing with their feet on the head of the statue of Atatürk.
