12-Year-Old Boy Bitten by Snake in Bazmabuyr

A 12-year-old boy has been bitten by a snake in the village of Bazmabuyr. According to reports from the Muratsan University Hospital, the condition of the boy, who was poisoned by the snake bite, has improved.

Days ago, the 12-year-old boy was transferred to the Muratsan University Hospital after being bitten by a snake. The child is from Bazmabuyr in the Ararat region’s Ashtarak district. While helping his father on their land, he was bitten twice by a snake, causing four marks on his right foot. His foot began to hurt, swell, and the child experienced anxiety, nausea, and vomiting.

He was taken to one of the medical centers in the republic, and subsequently to the Muratsan University Hospital. Marine Grigoryan, head of the Toxicology and Pediatric Intensive Care Clinic and an anesthesiologist-reanimatologist, noted that the snake venom led to dual systemotoxic reactions, blood coagulation disorders, hemolysis, and muscle breakdown among other symptoms.

At the hospital, the child received antivenom and symptomatic treatment. For the main treatment, the child also underwent 5 sessions of barotherapy. Change was evident from the very first session; due to the powerful anti-edema, analgesic, and detoxifying effects of barotherapy, the swelling gradually decreased, and the pain lessened. The child has been discharged from the university clinic.

According to Auroranews.am, the boy was bitten by a non-venomous snake of the Giyurza species.
