Death of a Person in Court is a Case of Madness: Vardevanyan

Aram Vardevanyan, a member of the Armenian National Assembly and a lawyer, stated that there was no basis for the arrest of Armen Grigoryan, noting that his lawyer had consistently raised concerns about his poor health condition.

"You should have opened a case and investigated. His defender, Ruben Melikyan, has repeatedly highlighted Armen Grigoryan's health status, but judges and investigators specifically named have ignored this, as they must ensure the FETISH of arrest. We were unable to meet Armen Grigoryan even once in the penitentiary because the investigator deemed it necessary to prohibit it. Can you imagine being prevented for all these months? A person has died in court. This is a case of madness. We keep saying not to fetishize detention... I can find no words. I cannot imagine how the individuals giving orders and their accomplices can live with their conscience amid so many abuses and the destruction of rights," he stated on Facebook.
