Armenia and India to Develop Joint Film Production

Armenia and India will develop joint film production and implement exchanges of professional teams in the field of cinematography, as well as professional training.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the National Cinema Center of Armenia and the Indian Trade and Economic Organization aimed at the development of the film sector and substantive Armenian-Indian cooperation in this field.

The agreement was ratified on the Armenian side by acting director of the National Cinema Center of Armenia, Shushanik Mirzakhanyan, and on the Indian side by the Vice President of the Indian Trade and Economic Organization, Yatesh Venkatesh.

According to the memorandum, each party will support the presentation and evaluation of the other party’s cinematographic products within the limits of their capabilities. By mutual agreement, the two countries will organize forums related to the film arts either online or offline, which will involve individuals interested in cinema, including filmmakers.

Armenian and Indian specialists will also explore the possibilities of establishing the “Indian Eurasia Film Academy” in Armenia.

The event was attended by Arthur Martirosyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the RA, Kishan Dan Dewal, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Republic of Armenia, Svetlana Sahakyan, Head of the Modern Art Department of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the RA, Indian producers, and others.
