Aliyev: Armenia Should Openly State Its Position, We Know What We Will Do

The statement made on November 10, 2020, is effectively an act of Armenia's capitulation, and as the defeated side, Armenia has taken on obligations that are explicitly outlined. This declaration comes from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

He noted that one of these obligations is to withdraw "Armenian armed groups from Nagorno-Karabakh."

“To this day, this issue has not been resolved. We have repeatedly raised this matter, but Armenia is procrastinating. We have also brought this issue before the Russian military leadership, and several months ago a senior official from the Russian Ministry of Defense, who was visiting Azerbaijan, promised our Ministry of Defense that the Armenian armed groups would withdraw from Nagorno-Karabakh by June. But it is already mid-July, and this issue remains unresolved. Armenia is not fulfilling this obligation despite the November 10 agreement.

The Russian peacekeepers and the Russian side, which also signed the November 10 agreement, are, as they say, not forcing them. Of course, this is unacceptable,” Aliyev stated.

“If Armenia does not wish to withdraw its armed groups, then let them openly say so, and we will know what to do. What our response will be—probably, it is not appropriate to speak about it now,” Aliyev added.
